Gesami , a two-term ODM legislator from West Mugirango has now declared interest in the seat, making him the forth high profile leader among many who will be running against incumbent John Nyagarama.

In his Saturday’s remarks, Gesami said he was ready to bring sanity to the South Nyanzan County by fighting corruption and clanism, which he said had encroached Nyagarama administration.

“I have served the people of Wes Mugirango peacefully for close to 10 years, and time has come for me to take a bold step and give room for another person. I have done my best and following consultations, I have now made a decision to join gubernatorial race,” he said.

“Nyamira is suffering from corruption and maladministration, and given my immense experience in leadership, I am the right person to bring the desired change in our county. I am very prepared to make Nyamira great again,” he added.

His entrance has yet again complicated ODM nominations given he is the party’s county chairperson and the incumbent John Nyagarama and youthful Charles Mochama are all affiliated to the party.

Earlier, former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati and retired judge Philip Onyancha had joined the race.
