Nyamira County Health services Chief Officer Douglas Bosire has asked striking nurses to resume work to shield residents from anguish as talks on their demands continue.
Speaking in Nyamira after launching a Human Resource for health strategic plan for Nyamira County 2017-2020, Bosire besought to the nurses who have been on a nation-wide strike for close to 120 days now to allow for smooth dialogues on their demands.
The nurses’ issues, Bosire said rested with the National government and the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (S.R.C), regretting that the residents were innocently in misery.
The CEC observed that citizens were seeking alternative medical services in private facilities of which they could not foot the bills.
The County government, he disclosed had proposed and forwarded the salaries drafts to the SRC, which rejected it on grounds of the nurses’ credentials.
The nurses have received backing from the doctors, who have exhilarated them to push on with their strike until they are compensated well.
