On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto accompanied by top government officials alongside local leadership toured the facility.

Uhuru said his government was keen to improve health services by expanding Level Five and Six Hospitals to accommodate more patients.

“My government is doing its best to improve our health facilities across the country. We want big hospitals to be upgraded so that they can accommodate more patients as a strategic plan to reduce congestion,” he said.

“This Sh800 million should be managed prudently by ensuring more rooms are constructed so that our people receive best medicare. We will not tolerate instances where funds are misappropriated,” he added.

Ruto cautioned medics against absconding their duties and called for stern actions against those found culpable.

“My friends you are paid to work for the public. You must be always in your work stations or you face a sack. We want to see our health facilities managed properly by everyone doing his or her job,” he said.

Governor John Nyagarama hailed the government for the support and said that plans were underway to fully equip the hospital for upgrading to a Level 6 facility.
