Nyamira gubernatorial seat aspirant Charles Mochama has called for speedy investigation into the mysterious death of a woman death at Nyamira Level 5 Hospital while giving birth.
It is alleged that the woman was left unattended while giving birth at the health facility.
Speaking in Nyamira town on Wednesday, Mochama condemned the incident and demanded justice for the victim's family.
“It has been said that the woman was not attended at Nyamira hospital, the ambulance had no petrol which was to transfer her to kisii level six, there was no ambulance driver we want justice to be done by investigating the matter further,” said Mochama.
The aspirant said that the incident was embarrassing considering that health services had been devolved under the new constitution.
According to an eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity, the young woman arrived in the hospital and was left unattended till she gave birth and subsequently bled to death.
Nyamira Level 5 Hospital health officer Douglas Bosire has however denied the allegations and said the woman was attended and accidentally lost her life.
