Nyamira Knut branch chairman Kennedy Nyamwanda's has been arrested over hate remarks allegedly made in 2015.
Nyamwanda who is being held at the Nyamira police station, was arrested by CID officers in Nyamira town on Tuesday evening.
Tonny Amecha, a resident of Bokurati village claimed that it's during the funeral of his late father, Aaron Amecha, where Nyamwanda condemned the failure by the government to heed to teachers' pay rise demands despite agreeing in a series of meetings/negotiations.
"I stand with Nyamwanda and arresting him will not stop him from fighting for teachers' rights," said Amecha.
However, the CID bosses declined to disclose the exact words that Nyamwanda spoke during the funeral and instead said they would be disclosed once investigations are completed.
Close sources said theKnut boss could be arraigned in a Nyamira court on Wednesday morning.
