Nyachae allegedly termed Gusii people who don't support Jubilee a ‘bunch of fools’ during an interview on Egesa FM.

But Nyamira Majority Leader Laban Masira and his deputy James Matinga, faulted Nyachae’s remarks and demanded that he apologises for undermining the ‘political consciousnesses of the Gusii people.

“I support Gusii unity but that should be left for the people to decide. You cannot force people to sing to your tune because we are living in a democratic world,” Masira said.

“Nyachae must withdraw the demeaning remarks he made on a public radio and apologise for undermining our political consciousness. We deserve respect because at the end of it, its the people who decide the political party the will subscribe to their ideologies,” added Matinga.

However, Nyachae has since disowned the remarks and blamed his ‘opponents’ for allegedly quoting him out of context.

“I didn’t really say that someone should support a certain political party. People have their political rights which cannot be gambled with. But again, we should join a political party that will help us spur growth. I was quoted out of context by my opponents,” he said during a phone interview.

Nyachae and a host of other leaders have been pushing for the Omogusii unity but the move has been met with equal resistance from a section of leaders mainly from Nyamira.
