Nyamira county leaders have urged residents to turn up in large numbers on Wednesday at Nyamaiya stadium when First Lady Margaret Kenyatta visits the county.
The First Lady is expected to donate a mobile clinic to the county on that day.
On Saturday during a church service at Bombo, governor John Nyagarama lauded Mrs Kenyatta and said the mobile clinic will be a boost to the county's health sector.
Nyagarama said the clinic will be a boost to the county in areas that the county government had not managed to set dispensaries and health facilities and treed it as ‘remedy to shaky’ health sector.
“We are ready to receive the mobile clinic from the First Lady and I want to assure you that we are working with the national government closely. The mobile clinic will be a big boost to the health sector which has been shaky as we try to set structures. I want to welcome you all to receive the donation,” said.
West Mugirango MP James Gesami joined the governor in welcoming the initiative and urged the county to ensure it serves all residents without discrimination.
“The mobile clinic is welcome to our county and I thank First Lady for that. However, I wish to urge officials from health department to ensure that all residents are served irrespective of which area from Nyamira they come from,” he said.
County Secretary Erick Onchana told reporters Sunday morning that the function will be open to all leaders who would wish to attend.
“It’s an open function and we have invited all leaders. We have to move forward as a county on matters development,” he said.
