A section of political leaders from Nyamira County have vowed to support education in the region by promoting area institutions with learning materials and other education facilities.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony at Nyambaria High School on Sunday, the leaders, led by Aspiring Governor Charles Mochama said many institutions were struggling to perform in the national exams due to scarcity of fundamental facilities.
“Our schools have a potential to perform well nationally. Nyambaria High school proved that in 2015 KCSE exams and it is upon we leaders to help our institutions by promoting them with required facilities,” he said.
“We have struggled in the past but as your leaders, we have agreed to work as a team to equip our institutions with library materials and lab equipment’s,” Mochama added.
Aspiring Kitutu Masaba MP Victor Ogeto who also runs the Ogeto Swanya Foundation said his team will be keen to support bright students to the highest level of education.
“We know that many of our schools are not properly equipped and I support the suggestion of Mochama. As a philanthropist, I am also keen to support brilliant students who come from humble backgrounds. Education is key to success and as leaders, we have a responsibility to help,” he said.
Another aspiring MP from Kitutu Masaba Shadrack Mose challenged the ministry of education and CDF committees to help equip the institutions top boost academic performances.
“As leaders we are always ready to support where we can but also, it’s important that CDF committees allocate enough resources to our schools so that libraries and labs are fully equipped. The ministry of education must also chip in to combat acute shortage of teachers in our schools,” he said.
Nyambaria High School emerged the best in Kenya Certificate for Secondary School Education in 2015 exams with a mean mark of 10.18.
