Duke Okoyo, 48, is nursing injuries at Kapkatet district hospital after he was allegedly beaten and cut repeatedly by his brother, Willis Nyagari, who has since gone missing.

According to witnesses, the two had a heated scuffle on Tuesday morning with the injured man claiming the land while his brother also claiming that their deceased parents had assigned him the same piece of land.

“They started quarreling and later, Nyagari picked the panga and caused all that. Mr Okoyo had built on the land but his brother has been claiming that the land belongs to him,” said Alfayo Mouko, a neighbour.

“They fought for a while and as neighbours, we had to intervene and combat the fight. We rushed the injured man to Kapkatet though he had deep head cuts and was bleeding profusely,” Mr Mouko added.

Area chief Kennedy Manani confirmed the incident and warned area residents against engaging in fights instead of solving such cases through amicable means. He asked the accused to avail himself to authorities before he was pursued.

“It is ridiculous that people can fight over something that can be solved through peaceful means. We should embrace peace all the times and I would like to ask the accused, wherever he is to report to authorities before we pursue him,” he said.
