Recently, Raila hinted at supporting a different candidate to run against President Uhuru Kenyatta on condition that the said candidate shows the capacity to send the Jubilee administration home.

And now Nyamira County Assembly deputy majority leader James Matinga has ruled out any retirement for the opposition leader saying he is the best candidate to run against Uhuru.

“Sometimes I wonder why people keep on propagating propaganda that Raila should retire. He is still young and popular and after all former American president Ronald Reagan won at the age of 80,’ he said.

“In case I don’t see Raila’s name on the ballot, then I won’t vote in the presidential elections since that means Jubilee will have early celebrations. I don’t see any prepared opposition leader to take over from Raila so I won’t waste my vote if he is not in the ballot,” he added.

He said the former primier has been a victim of a rotten electoral system and insisted that with the impending reforms, he would easily beat his opponents.

“What people agree is that Odinga has been a victim of rotten electoral system which we are about to change. I am pretty sure that with expected reforms, we are going to win presidency,” he said.
