Nyamira Senator Mong’are Okong’o has said that he is still following up to ensure that the County Assembly of Nyamira gets money to enable it run its operations.
This comes after the county assembly opted to postpone the house sessions for the next two weeks.
Speaking in Nyamira town, Senator Okong’o said that the county does not have enough money for its operations and called on Governor John Nyagarama to find a way of helping the county from the situation it is in.
The senator said that according to the report he has, the national government gave out money to Nyamira County government and faulted the county assembly for misusing the money something he said has led to the problem of lacking enough funds in the county.
“I have reports that our county has no money to run operations and I am closely following up on the matter. I also want to ask the MCAs to prioritize important projects to avoid such scenarios,” said Okong’o.
Nyamira County Assembly speaker Joash Nyamoko, said that the move to postpone sittings for the next two weeks was because the government allocated little money to the county of Nyamira.
