Mong’are has been at loggerheads with MCAs over their oversight role, accusing them of dining with the Executive instead of protecting public resources.

Speaking on Egesa FM's Sunday night show, Mong’are accused the MCAs of misappropriating Sh60 million in the 2014/15 Financial Year, and also questioned the manner in which they handled a report prepared by the Public Accounts Committee of the assembly.,

“I have spoken on a number of times and I want to insist that the Nyamira MCAs belong to Kamiti prison. They have zero integrity and they know that. It’s only a few that are out to defend public interest in the county assembly,” he said.

“They cannot account for at least Sh60 million for the 2014/15 F/Y, and recently they did shoot down a report that implicated some members of the Executive. These are people we cannot trust and it’s my wish that the electorate teaches them a lesson in 2017,” he added.

Mong’are also took a swipe at the county government accusing it of inefficiency and gross violation of the Constitution through skewed employment.

“Nyamira is a county where all manner of crimes are committed. The county Executive is incompetent and we are aware of skewed employment. As the Senator, I won’t be deterred in putting them on check,” he added.
