This comes after a brutal gang killed two people instantly and injured three others by pouring sulphuric acid on them in Matongo village, North Mugirango constituency.

Led by Majority Leader Laban Masira on Wednesday at Bokeira ward, the MCAs condemned the killings and challenged police to be vigilant to deal with perpetrators.

“As MCAs from Nyamira, we condemn the unprecedented insecurity incidents in our county and call for thorough patrols to ensure security is guaranteed to our people,” Masira said.

“We have the police who should be ensuring our people are protected from such crimes. It’s sad that we can continue losing innocent lives yet we pay taxes to government to improve security. All we want to see is normalcy in the whole county,” he added.

“His minority counterpart Jackson Mogusu called for resignation of county commissioner Josephine Onunga, accusing her of incompetency.

“The provincial administration is out here harassing Chang’aa brewers yet we have deadly gangs which should be thwarted for the sake of our security,” he said.

“Time has come for the county commissioner to take responsibility over the deaths that are occurring daily as a result of insecurity in our region. We want competent people who can come on board and rescue us from these tragedies,” he added.
