Nyamira MCAs used a whooping Sh63M on tea in the financial year 2015/16, a report released by the Auditor General has revealed.
According to The Daily Nation, Nyamira County executives used Sh300 million for travels which could have been used to construct and equip over 70 health centres.
The Report which was released this week also pointed fingers at the MCAs for excesses in sitting allowances.
Of the budget set aside for the assembly, Sh67.8 million, loosely translating to a monthly salary of Sh166, 000 was used to pay each of the 33 wards reps in sitting allowances.
The amount was in excess of Sh22, 000 against the 124,000 recommended by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
Nyamira’s giant neighbour Kisii County with 73 MCAs and nine sub- counties used Sh70 Million for tea at the same duration.
