Nyamira county assembly speaker Mr. Joash Nyamoko has warned Members of County Assembly of absenteeism and late coming for debates.

Mr. Nyamoko who was hosting members of the media in a press conference on Wednesday evening fired the warning and said that his office will take extreme measures to ensure businesses are transacted accordingly in the assembly.

Nyamoko said that he was concerned with the habit saying that it was likely to impede dissemination of assembly’s duties among them discussion of bills which affected residents directly.

“I don’t think we have encountered a lot of problems but I think that they should improve their time management. A number of them come late and there are some who report their absenteeism days after the chair notes. That is the area I need them to improve on,” Nyamoko said when asked about the participation of MCAs.

“They understand the law and I hope those with the habit will change next year. Otherwise any delayed notification to the chair will lead to a stern action henceforth,” he said.

Nyamoko was however certain that the assembly had done well by doing its oversight role according to the law and enacting legislations for efficiency in the county administration.

“Despite the ups and downs, I am sure that we have done well in terms of oversight because we have discussed various reports and even come with legislations that have put the county leadership on toes,” he said.
