The deputy ODM party leader has been supporting key events in the party, with a number of pundits linking him to the 2022 presidency.

North Mugirango MP Charles Geni and his  and West Mugirango counterpart  James Gesami, on Friday were unanimous that the Mombasa County boss was in order to take the mantle and lead by example as Raila Odinga’s deputy.

“Personally I think Joho’s rise within the party is timely and necessary since we need someone who can fit in Raila’s shoes not necessary as his replacement in future but someone who can show leadership within the party ranks,” said Geni.

“The ODM party has never operated in a vacuum and when we nurture leaders, people should not be scared. He is a good leader and I fully back his leadership because he is fit,” added Geni.

Gesami on his part said Joho’s rise was an indication that Raila was ready to nurture leaders across the board regardless of their tribe.

“ODM is the biggest party in East and Central Africa and the party leader is very democratic. He is happy to see people growing and that is why Joho is thriving. I wish him well and hopefully he will give much-needed energy in the party,” said the ODM county chairman.
