Nyamira County nurses have announced plans to start strike from Monday January 1, 2018 over unpaid salaries.
Nyamira branch KNUN secretary Richard Oruta on Saturday said the county has not released the money to be paid to nurses.
He said nurses have not been paid allowances and other benefits despite the agreement that was signed between nurses and the county government.
“All nurses are advised to boycott job starting Monday January 1, 2018 until the county releases the money for the nurses to be paid. Governor Nyagarama has failed to honor his promise it is time we will show him that we need the money,” he said.
He accused the county government for ignoring a promise made to nurses.
“We will be camping at governor Nyagarama’s office until we receive the money,” he added.
Oruta urged county residents to seek medical attention at private hospitals because there will be no nurses to provide service in all public health facilities in the county.
