Ten former Nyabuya primary students from Nyamira who sat for the K.C.P.E last year have a reason to smile after the county leadership offered to support them by donating 100,000Kshs.
The ten, who are now in different schools across the country will have the money deposited in their respective school accounts as from Tuesday next week, a senior county officer has confirmed.
Speaking at the institution on Sunday during a prize giving ceremony, Mr. Douglas Bosire who is the county’s Chief Health officer said the move aimed at improving the education standards in the county by enticing students to work hard.
“As you know, the education function is still a national government docket. But that doesn’t mean we sit and relax watching our children suffer in terms of paying school fee,” said the health officer.
“Those who faired in the last years exam will get a total of 100,000kshs with the best candidate walking home with 25,000kshs, the second best 15,000kshs and the third student will get 10,000kshs. The rest will receive 5,000kshs each,” he said.
He challenged teachers to set their personal targets in bid to improve the performance of the region besides assuring that the same will be extended to students across the ward.
“Teachers have a responsibility of setting their targets by ensuring we improve the performance. We will soon ensure that every school from the ward has received the support from the county by having former students’ school fee paid,” he added.
End.
