The parents on Tuesday asked police officers in the County to shut down all gambling and betting centers in the County to safe the children.

“We are calling on Nyamira County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru to order police shut down the several gambling centers in the County to ensure our children remains at school all times,” said Kennedy Ongoro, a parent.

Ongoro said his two sons dropped out of school last year because they used to participate in gambling everyday.

“My two sons dropped school because of gambling. They used to miss school to participate in gambling. Local chiefs did not help me to take them back to school. I am scared my other children will drop school again if gambling is not stopped,” he said.

Stephen Morira, a Nyumba Kumi official in the area said they will help police officers to shut down the gambling joints in the area.
