Police in Nyamira County have launched investigations after unknown people attacked a home of former Bomwangamo ward MCA Julius Nyankana and destroyed property.

According to police, the unknown assailants raided the home at around 2 am on Saturday and burnt the former MCA’s car using petrol and a section of his house.

Nyankana said the suspects were on a mission to kill him.

He said the suspects gained entry into the compound and started breaking doors and windows of his house.

The former MCA said raised alarm for neighbors to rescue but the dispersed the suspects by shooting in the air.

“The hired goons burnt a vehicle that was outside and a section of the house was set on fire using petrol. The attack was political and I am calling on the government to investigate and bring the culprits into book,” he said.

He blamed the attack on his political rivals who he declined to name. 

Nyamira North police boss Maurice Asila said confirmed the incident and assured that police officers are pursuing the suspects.
