Kambi had posted a photo with a minor identified through his caption as a street urchin in Kisii town whom he had super with on Monday night.

However, the photo has elicited sharp criticism from members of the public, with a number of them seizing the opportunity to question the academician’s integrity.

“In my honest opinion, this is public relations by my brother. One does not necessarily have to advertise to the masses that you see I bought the street boy rice or chips,” read one post.

“We must do away with such kind of politics, taking advantage of the poor for political gains. Those are some of the politicians who won’t deliver if elected. It’s like they are doing businesses with philanthropy and I bet there is no philanthropy there,” added another participant.

However, Nyandoro has since defended his photo and challenged his critics to analyze the caption which had accompanied the photo.

“I don’t need political mercy by helping the poor. My message was well elaborated in the caption. I simply challenged my colleagues led by Kisii Governor James Ongwae to join hands and we build a rehabilitation centre for these young ones roaming in the street. I don’t see any offense in that,” Nyandoro told the reporter.
