The county government of Nyamira is yet again on spot after a section of residents questioned its commitment towards improving infrastructure.

This comes after officials from the Public Works department spent most part of Wednesday and Thursday renovating Manga-Rigoma road ahead of World Food celebrations to be held on Friday at Rigoma grounds.

Rigoma residents, led by Peterson Mochama on Thursday questioned the commitment of John Nyagarama led government in fixing deplorable conditions of a number of feeder roads.

“It is quite laughable that if the celebrations were not to be held in Nyamira, our roads would remain in the same conditions. This is hypocrisy and as residents, we are ready to make major changes in leadership because it’s tiresome to work with a non-caring regime,” he said.

They said the quality of the roads repaired ahead of the Friday’s function was poor since little time was invested in repairing them to acceptable standards.

“A road prepared in two days is not worth. It will soon fade making us go back to zero. We are tired with these games from the county government," Mr Mochama said.

County Communication Secretary Siruel Bosire defended the county government’s step to repair the road to Rigoma, terming the process ‘timely’.

“I think we should not be too rigid to accept the development made by the county. We are trying our best and it’s from such functions we are able to connect with people,” he said.
