Speaking to this reporter during the demonstrations, the residents accused the government of negligence, and urged County Governor John Nyagarama to intervene and salvage the matter.

The residents planted banana stalks as a sign of their dissatisfaction with the local leaders, saying they have complained over the same road for a long time now with no response.

They want the road to be repaired so that they can transport their farm produce to both the interior and exterior markets.

“Our road is worse than before. Our efforts to have it tarmacked or even murramed have not borne fruits. Our leaders are passive in the matter because they are aware of our complaint,” said Jemimah Okemwa, a resident.

“We ask Governor Nyagarama to intervene and help us because we cannot transport farm produce to the markets, the road is impassable," noted Joseph Ondieki.
