Nyamira residents have raised concerns over alleged drugs shortage in public hospitals in Nyamira County.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, a few residents who went to seek medication at Nyamira General Hospital complained about the drug shortage that had hit the hospital.
"It is a pity that we can go to Nyamira level 5 General Hospital and when the medics prescribe the drugs we are supposed to take, we are forced to buy the drugs from chemists because of drug shortage," said Irene Moraa.
The executive in charge of Health Gladys Momanyi however refuted the claims, saying there are enough drugs in all public hospitals, and should report cases where they are forced to buy drugs from private chemists.
"The claims that some residents are raising that there isn't enough drugs in our dispensaries and hospitals are untrue, and if it happens that some of them are required to buy the drugs from private chemists, I urge them to report such medics to me for action to be taken," said Momanyi.
