Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has been subjected to public pressure to fire County Secretary Erick Onchana following an incident in which the officer is alleged to have engaged in a fist fight with Health Chief Officer Douglas Bosire.
On Tuesday evening, the two senior officers were allegdely embroiled in a physical fight after Onchana reportedly demanded that EACC officials investigate Bosire over alleged misappropriation of funds in the Health department.
And in the Nyamira Politics WhatsApp group, several residents took on the County Secretary claiming he is exercising his powers wrongly by harassing public servants.
“Time has come for the Governor to crack the whip on the County Secretary. He is working with impunity by harassing his juniors. He has made the working environment difficult for our people,” said Duke Masira.
“He should be talking from home because he is on record for profiling workers based according to the clans they come from. It’s unfortunate that the Governor is condoning him,” added Nyakundi Mosomi.
Efforts to reach Onchana for comment were futile since he could not pick calls but sources indicate that he has since buried the hatchet with the Chief Officer Bosire at a secret meeting that was chaired by County Executive Member Andrew Ombati.
