Residents of Nyamira County have been urged to elect women to various elective positions as a way of controlling persistent political intrigues.

Speaking on Thursday at Mochenwa village, a group of women led by nominated MCA Naomi Bosibori said women were ready to take the elective seats for the sake of spurring growth in the county.

They blamed their male counterparts for engaging in political wrangles that have apparently led to stagnant growth in the county.

“As women in the assembly, we have shown that we can lead if given the opportunity. You people have been seeing what our men normally do in the office and that is why we are having challenges in delivering as a county,” she said.

Ms Bosibori said the county will only achieve its development goals if focused leaders were elected and backed women as the most suitable for the job given their understanding of people on the ground.

“We understand the needs of our people and the day Nyamira will have leaders elected from the women population, people will witness transformative politics rather than constant political wrangles,” she said.

Nyamira County has been in the headlines for all wrong reasons with Senator Okong’o Mong’are leading five MPs to lead campaigns against Governor John Nyagarama.
