School heads across Nyamira county are now calling for both the national and county government to ensure that every school in the area is connected to electricity in order for them to ensure that performance is boosted.

Speaking on Monday in a Nyamira hotel during a consultative meeting with the education ministry official the heads led by Kebirigo Primary head teacher James Motari said that they are facing a lot of difficulties when it comes to learning since they do not have electricity.

“Some schools even have computers but unfortunately pupils cannot learn simple skills due to lack of electricity and we call for the government to take quick action on the same,” said Motari.

Motari blamed the government for being slow in taking actions and yet they want the schools to perform better.

“We are just banking on promises and we hope the government will ensure that each school has its own electricity connection,” he added.

Nyamira county education director Elijah Nyamweya promised that they will ensure that the county schools are well connected to electricity by June.

“We understand the problems that are facing schools and we are currently in hurry to ensure that all is put in place on time,” he said.
