School scouts across Nyamira county have been challenged to plant more trees in the ongoing season at their schools and at their home areas in order to conserve their environment.
Speaking in Nyamira hotel during a scouting event Nyamira county Scouting Officer Richard Ombati said there was need for all the people in the county to take advantage of the ongoing rains to plant more trees and more so scouts should steer the process.
Ombati lamented that most schools across Nyamira and Kisii counties respectively do not have enough trees compared to the past and this is where the scouting clubs need to chip in and give their assistance where possible.
He called upon the county government to supply schools with trees that they had promised early on before the El Niño rains started.
