Speaking during the Annual General Meeting on Monday, Mrs. Priscah Temu of Nyabuya women self-help group said the group had collected 400,000kshs since its foundation in 2013 and would top up with 150,000kshs that had been donated by aspiring MP Mr. Victor Ogeto.

They said the posho mill was part of their objectives that will help them realize another dream of constructing renal houses in Kisii town that will help them get income.

“As you all know, we have been working tirelessly since 2013 and I want to bring to your attention we will buy the posho mill. We have 0.4million and we will top the 150,000kshs that we received from Hon. Ogeto to purchase it,” she said.

“I would like to remind you that this is part of the plan to acquire a piece of land and construct houses for rental in Kisii town. The dream is achievable but we ought to work extra hard,” she added.

They asked fellow women to desist from relying on men and instead form groups that would help them fight extreme poverty in the region.

“As women, we have a potential of even doing better. Time has come for women to be independent and desist from relying on our partners. We can only do this by forming self-help groups,” Mrs. Temu said.
