Former Kitutu Masaba MP and multiparty crusader the late George Moseti Anyona was Thursday celebrated in his remote village of Nyamwanga
Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mong'are Okong'o led hundreds of residents to the late Anyona's homestead in remembering him as a hero for his efforts in fighting for multipartyism in Kenya.
Okongo, who referred Anyona as an architect of democracy, condemned both the county and national governments of failing to recognise his efforts in the fight for Kenya's second liberation (liberation).
He said Anyona and other important late veterans have been forgotten and either their families have been neglected and sidelined.
He said that until they are given a befitting send-off (recognition), current leaders stand to be haunted by their spirits.
"Until we honour these mashujaas (sic), their spirits will one day haunt us for sure," said Okongo.
He, however, demanded that the upcoming Nyamira State University be named after late Anyona as a way of remembering him.
He also asked Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to rename the Dunga Road to George Anyona to appreciate his efforts.
