Okong'o said it was wrong for the police to arrest teachers' leaders who are fighting for their rights.

"How can the State arrest Nyamwanda over remarks claimed to have been made a year ago? This is like scratching an already healed wound," said Mong'are.

During a phone interview with this reporter, Mong'are said politicians should stop making their grounds by trying unions in that way.

"During strikes, people utter words that should not be taken seriously because they are just intended to push the government to action. The teachers were demanding their rights and it's something we have forgotten," added Mong'are.

Nyamwanda is alleged to have called the President a 'bhang smoker who is leading people to a river.'
