Speaking during a funds drive for Kebirigo Traders Association on Tuesday, the Senator said the county chiefs must answer questions on funds allocated to their counties.

The Senator added that no amount of intimidation will stop him from questioning how all County governments had spent its allocation.

He said the senate had in the year 2016-17 budget approved a total of Sh302 billion to all counties, with Nyamira County set to receive Sh5.7 billion.

“For the last three years this county received almost Sh20 billion and we must query how it has been spent, whether they decide to answer today or whatever time,” he added.

He reiterated that it was the senators’ task to take care of the county funds, adding that it was wrong for some governors to imagine they cannot be questioned.

The senator also added that if swift action is not taken against corrupt government officials the vice would derail the country’s development agenda.

“Governors must follow the Constitution and appear before the Senate committee as that is a body mandated to audit their spending,” he added.
