According to Mong’are, the clause on party hopping was not discussed anywhere adding it will be difficult for the lawmakers to pass the report on Wednesday when it is likely to be tabled in Parliament.

Addressing journalists at a Nyamira hotel Saturday, the Senator said the select committee which was led by Senators Kiraitu Murungi and James Orengo sneaked in the clause in the final report.

“The clause about the party hopping was not discussed anywhere and it will make the report not to pass in Parliament. I have read the report and I know what it means when I say it will not see the light of day in Parliament," he added.

Mong’are added that a similar clause on the Election Act was removed by MPs some years back hence it will be the same once it is tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.

He appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to consider the select committee which sneaked the clause into the report stating it was never discussed.

Mong’are said the MPs will not pass the report hence it means that Kenyans may not likely go to an election in 2017.

“The way things are being handled means that we are going back to old days we should focus as Kenyans on what we need to do,let us keep watching  and prayerful ” he added

About the IEBC being charged with conducting party nominations, Okong'o said the commission is an independent body and is not mandated to do so.
