Nyamira County Senator Mong'are Okong'o has urged the Gusii community to decamp from the Opposition and join the government if they want to benefit.
The Senator said the community has been 'eating cold food' while other regions of the country were enjoying 'fresh, hot cooked food' from the government for years.
"This cold food will destroy our stomachs, we have been in the Opposition for years and have not gained anything. Let's be in the government as a community to strengthen our bargaining power," noted Mong'are.
His remarks ware welcomed by Borabu MP Ben Momanyi who said it's time the Abagusii to rethink on the benefits of being in the government or retain the loses in the opposition.
"There is no way we can benefit outside the government, I ask all leaders from Gusii community to come together and set way forward in getting our voice heard in the next government," said Momanyi.
Both Mon'gare and Momanyi were elected on a Cord ticket.
The two were speaking Friday during a funds drive in aid of Eronge Boarding Primary School which was also attended by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.
The monies will go towards the construction of two dormitories which were destroyed by lightening earlier this year.
