Two terror suspects arrested on Thursday last week in Nyamira Town will be arraigned in court after investigations are over.

According to Nyamira County police coordinating officer Mwarungu Mwandoe, the investigations are being concluded. The two men were arrested in the town after they were spotted taking pictures of government buildings, including the county commissioner’s complex which also houses the governor’s office and a bank.

He added that the two, identified as Mohamed Ibrahim, 40, and Edwin Nyandisi Nyamweya, 35 are currently being held after being interrogated for the second day on Monday and that they will be arraigned in court soon.

Mwandoe said that the duo was earlier seen taking photographs of the Nyamira law courts and the Family bank on August 10 and 11 respectively.

Ibrahim, according to Mwandoe, was brought up in Mombasa and Eastleigh and has worked as an engineer in a private company while Nyandisi had worked in Dubai in 2010 as a security guard for four months before he came back home in Nyamira County.

“We are treating them as suspects as we continue with investigations to establish their motive behind the photographing of government buildings and for whom they are working,” said Mwandoe.

Mwandoe urged the residents to remain calm as the situation is under control and volunteer information to the police officers to thwart any plan to cause insecurity in the county.
