Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has put measures in place to ensure the construction of a new university in the region is completed before the end of this year. Addressing journalists after attending a consultative meeting with Kiabonyoru residents  where the university will be set up,  Nyagarama said the first batch of admissions will take place next year.

"We are looking forward to completing the ongoing works maybe by the the end of the year so that we will have the first students here in 2017," said Nyagarama. 

The county boss further said through the goodwill of the area residents, the initiative of building the university will be a success. "For a university to build there is a minimum requirement of 50 hectares that is required and so far we have acquired 42 hectares at Kiabonyoru High School and I will like to thank development-focused residents who have donated 8 hectares for the same purpose," added Nyagarama.
