The Jubilee Party has come under attack from Gusiiland over what a top woman leader from the region termed sidelining the female gender from the recently launched campaign team.
The Nyamira woman rep 2017 hopeful Catherine Nyamato now wants UhuRuto to include some of the most formidable women from Kisii and Nyamira counties that can move masses.
Nyamato who will vie on a Jubilee ticket, wondered how the President and his deputy want to win yet the women, who form 53% of the voters, have been excluded.
“We the women of Kenya and especially Nyanza region have noted with deep concern, the composition of the Nyanza campaign team for the Jubilee Party,” said Nyamato.
“There are no women in the team!!! How does it escape the party leadership that women are over 53% of the voters in most parts of the region? Dear president Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Samoei Ruto, my team and I urge you to re-look the composition of the team...” she added.
She urged the duo to expand the team so as not to give the public an impression that Jubilee doesn’t appreciate women contribution in the elections.
During the first Jubilee Party NGC held in Nairobi on Friday last week, former CIC chair Charles Nyachae, Albert Nyaundi, Raphael Tuju, Joash Maangi, Joash Nyamoko, Joseph Kiangoi, Walter Nyambati, Jimmy Angwenyi, Mathias Robi are Jubilee’s point men in Nyanza region.
