Nyamira County Women Representative Alice Chae has promised to sponsor at least five orphans from each ward in the county.
Speaking on Saturday in a fundraising event at Cheplat PAC Church Chae urged other leaders to support her in helping more vulnerable children to at least access secondary education.
“I will sponsor five children, who are orphans, from each ward so that I can help them pursue their dream. I therefore urge other leaders to join me these children realise their dreams,” said Chae.
Chae was accompanied by Borabu politician, Dr Nyandoro Kambi, who challenged political leaders to deliver their promises to the electorates.
At the same time Kambi promised to work with Mekenene MCA, Alfayo Ngeresa, in ensuring that each homestead in the area has pipe water.
Kambi said that he is determined to ensure that sport talent are identified and nurtured through his Nyandoro Tournament.
“Young people are fulcrum of any society. We therefore, need to support them. I will engage area youths in meaningful activity so that they can stop depending on politicians hand outs,” said Kambi.
