An MCA from Nyamira County has donated 20,000Kshs to a young group meant for buying banana suckers in bid to boost their banana farming.
Hon. Ken Nyameino of Gesima ward on Friday said the move would see Kiamwarimu youth group strengthen their banana farming business.
He said similar donations will soon be made to youth groups that will convince him of commitment and dedication towards economic development.
“They have shown me great hard work and dedication and I sincerely think they deserve this. I want them to expand this business to a level of empowering the entire region. This is the right thing to do,” he said.
“I have occasionally heard youths complaining of discrimination when it comes to development. I want to challenge them to show evidence of their projects so that we can help them better it even more,” Nyameino added.
According to him, the area county government has opened opportunities for the youths in compliance with the new constitution especially in terms of tender awarding.
“We should cease to complain always. The county government has always worked with youths. It is now upon you to put it on toes so that it can deliver,” he said.
Group chairman John Ondimu lauded the MCA and asked him to reach more youths who were similarly committed to uplift their living standards.
