There was a rare spectacle in Nyamira Town on Monday after youths who had gathered in the County headquarters fought over Sh10,000 which was allegedly offered Governor John Nyagarama.
They engaged in a running battle that caused a show of its own kind as they chased one another for a share of the money where one youth lost his valuables through the commotion.
The over two hundred youths were allegedly hired to counter an anti-governor demo group that was hinted to take place today.
Addressing the gathering, Nyamira Township MCA Robert Ongwano told off the organisers of the anti-governor demo as being against development.
He told them that instead of fighting the leadership of Nyagarama they instead join hands and efforts to move the county forward and work for the electorate.
Similar sentiments were echoed by his Bonyamatuta Counterpart Robinson Mocheche.
The youths who were chanting pro governor slogans marched to the county headquarters criticizing the county members of parliament and Senator Kennedy Okong’o for working against the will of the electorate who were having a meeting throughout the better part of Monday morning in a Nyamira hotel.
They also accused the legislators of delaying development in the County through their show offs and wanting to destabilize the Nyagarama government.
“This people want to create an impression that our governor is non-performing whereas they are the people undermining his leadership because they are not cooperating to work together for us voters,” said one irate youth who sought anonymity.
The anti governor group is allegedly against the selection site of a new university in Nyamira county at Kiabonyoru area of Nyamira North Sub-county where they claimed they were not involved or consulted before arriving at the final site.
The MPs however said that it was for the good of the people and they want to be involved in any agenda in the county because it all belongs to everybody.
