With only a week to opposition leader Raila Odinga’s maiden visit to Nyamira County, a section of youths have planned parallel demonstrations to express their dissatisfaction on the management of the county.
The youths further faults the opposition leader of keeping silent despite the alleged looting in counties controlled by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
Posters mobilizing youths to turn up for the demonstrations have been circulating in several social media platforms in Nyamira County.
“We respect Raila but we must tell him face to face that he is keeping quit when Governor John Nyagarama and some other colleagues from other counties are busy looting,” said Frank Anyona, one of the organizers.
“He must come out and condemn corruption at the equal measure as he does on Jubilee. This county is crumbling just because of corruption. We don’t want the so called Kikao 046,” he added.
However, another section of youths have labeled those opposed to the Youth Convention scheduled on December 2nd as Jubilee sympathizers and dared them to demonstrate.
“If it’s corruption, we should not wait till the party leader comes. In case they are genuine, we expect them to demonstrate before or after the Kikao. Otherwise, we shall treat them as Jubilee sympathizers and deal with them accordingly,” said Vincent Osumo.
Odinga is expected to be the chief guest of Kikao 046, a youth empowerment initiative held in all ODM controlled counties, in the county that is dealing with corruption related scandals.
