Nyamira county governor Mr James Nyagarama has joined other leaders in throwing his support for the much-anticipated youth summit scheduled on 27 December in Nyamaiya stadium but warned youths against being used as development obstacles by his rivals.
Speaking at Matutu PAG on Sunday, the Nyamira county boss challenged youths to use the meeting as an avenue to discuss contemporary issues affecting them and forward them to authorities for further actions.
He said his leadership would not hesitate to implement some of the resolutions that could be arrived in the meeting and pledged to work with organizers.
“Having such meetings shows that our youths have matured and they are ready to transform our county objectively. My government is ready to implement some of the resolutions that they might arrive at because we are keen to work with youthful leadership,” he said.
However, Mr Nyagarama sounded an alarm to organizers and warned them against being used by his critics to sabotage his administration.
“I must say that the county leadership will not condone instances where youths are sponsors by critics who want to advance their political agendas. The county belongs to all of us, therefore, youths must desist from working with ill-motivated politicians whose aim is to show their political might by hampering development by using innocent people to advance their agenda,” he said.
Organizers led by Mr Nyambega Gisesa are holding series of meetings ahead of the function and among the agendas scheduled for the meeting according to report seen by the reporter include unemployment among the youths, youth empowerment, tendering in both county and national governments among others.
