Gatundu North sub county Commissioner, Daniel Nyamiti has asked residents of Makwa to observe peace among them by knowing their neighbours through Nymba Kumi initiative.
Nyamiti said there was need for residents living in Makwa and other parts of Gatundu North to live harmoniously for the sake of the development of their constituency.
Speaking to bodaboda operators in Makwa after holding a peace sensitization meeting with the area OCPD on Tuesday, Nyamiti cautioned leaders against using politics to divide wananchi, noting that there was need for adequate peace for the residents and those from neighbouring the sub county.
Two weeks ago, Nyamiti held several joint peaceful meetings in Gatundu North and South in a bid to quell growing animosity between the residents of the two counties.
He called on area leaders to consider conducting their affairs peacefully and avoid incitement and abusive utterances.
He warned that those who will compromise the two sub counties security through irresponsive utterances will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
‘I also urge you young men to be in the forefront of steering peaceful co-existence in your area. We can only arrest irresponsive behaviors by knowing our neighbors and leaving in harmony with them; know your clients at night too,’ he told bodaboda operators in Makwa.
He called for harmony between farmers and pastoralists in the county. These comes after three armed men were on Monday arrested invading a busy hotel in Makwa town in a robbery attempt which was thwarted by police from the areas upon information leakage from the public.
