Nyamiti noted that street urchins are a problem to the society ranging from the insecurity threats they pose to residents as well as creating untidiness in Kamwangi town.

He was speaking during the launch of his ‘Punguza Watoto Kwa Street’ initiative on Tuesday said he would donate Sh 200,000 to boost Gatundu children’s home move to expand their children block to pave way for increment of street absorbed children from 123 to 350.

Nyamiti noted that the international children’s day aimed at helping all street children in the country to acquire their identity. He promised to push for registration of all 18 year aged urchins to acquire identity cards and a chance to exercise their constitutional right of voting come 2017.

“This year, we are aiming at identifying all the street children in all the towns countrywide. Today being the international children’s day, I pledge to offer 0.2 million for development of Gatundu children’s home to help it enrol more children in their educational facilities something that will help us reduce these children’s in Kamwangi town,” said Nyamiti.

He underscored that the government was committed to sensitising the street urchins on their rights and therefore urged the legislators in the area to join him.

He further asked all well-wishers to chip in and help a kid on the streets as a way of showing humanity and love to them.

Kamwangi town has an estimated 273 children living in the streets.
