Gatundu North commissioner Daniel Nyamiti has ordered chiefs in Gatundu North to either perform or get sacked.
Without mentioning specific names, Nyamiti warned that some chiefs and their assistants were sleeping on their jobs, warning that he may be forced to take action if the trend is not checked.
Speaking to chiefs in Kamwangi sub county hall on Wednesday, Nyamiti regretted that some of his juniors had become too bossy rather than providing services to Gatundu North residents.
He ponted out that some chiefs were avoiding the public especially when residents are questioning important issues on service delivery and rooting out of social vices.
"The reason you were put in that crown is to serve not to dictate as you watch things go haywire. It is either you work or leave office for a replacement. We cannot continue allowing some vices like illicit brew to happen in 22nd century, that I won’t allow,"said Nyamiti.
His warning comes after some residents led by Chania ward residents complained of resurgence of illicit liquor that left one man nursing his life in a nearby private dispensary.
Nyamiti noted that some chiefs were still receiving bribes from local alcohol manufacturers even after the president’s directive to stem the vice that has rendered many Kenyans blind and others dead.
He reiterated that his transformational agenda was on course, and anyone seen to be an obstacle will not be tolerated.
