Nyamira County speaker Joash Nyamoko has slammed Controller of a Budget Agnes Odhiambo following a report that implicated county assembly over using a whooping Sh63 million for tea in 2015/16 year.

While insisting the assembly did not offer tea to its members and employees, Nyamoko questioned the findings of the CoB adding that she had overstepped her mandate.

The report released by Odhiambo indicated that the county assembly had also authenticated payment for MCAs allowances contrary to the stipulated regulations.

“The Controller of Budget knows regulations properly and she can’t pretend anymore. I have never seen MCAs or even workers taking tea within the assembly because we do not provide it,” he said.

“Whenever we need to spend, we usually apply for funds from her office in which she is mandated to either accept or reject. On allowances, we do not have specific instances that departmental committees sit. Sometimes they go for extra hours to meet deadlines,” he added.

He said auditing of resources usage was a function of the Auditor General and maintained his readiness to explain how the money was used.
