Kisumu Women Representative Rose Nyamunga has challenged Kisumu Members of Parliament to work hand-in-hand with the county government to achieve devolution in the county.
Nyamunga asked the seven MPs; Ken Obura (Kisumu Central), Olago Aluoch (Kisumu West), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East),Fred Outa (Nyando),James Nyikal (Seme), Aduma Awuor (Nyakach) and James Koyoo of Muhoroni to help the county government fast track projects in their respective constituencies so that residents could also benefit from devolution.
“Kisumu residents have often complained of not feeling the effects or benefits of devolution and that is why we need to sit down as MPs from this county to see into how we can help the county government to fulfil some of its dreams, promises and laid down projects to the people. We cannot heap the blame of poor performance on the governor only yet we are also part of the county leadership,” said Nyamunga.
Speaking to this reporter on phone, Nyamunga regretted that Governor Ranguma has had blames being shot at his governance and appealed to the MPs to help realise devolution in the county by allocating bursaries to the needy in the constituencies, fast tracking the building and construction projects and also offering employment opportunities through the Constituency Development Funds.
“All political leaders starting from the president are products and benefiters of devolution and so we should all ensure that this dream is achieved,” she said.
