Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Sam Nyamweya has sued the current Kenya's football body leadership over irregular expansion of the league and the haphazard manner in which it is promoting and relegating teams.
According to the veteran football administrator, the court should slap an injunction against the Nick Mwendwa-led FKF from interfering with the manner in which the Kenya Premier League should be run.
Nyamweya accuses his successor of breaching the agreement they signed with the KPL on the number of teams that should participate in the country's top-tier league.
The former FKF boss added that Kenya risks being slapped with a ban from the world soccer governing body FIFA if the ongoing wrangles pitting KPL on one side and the FKF on the other do not find an amicable solution.
He now challenges Mwendwa and the FKF management as a whole ro respect the Sports Disputes Tribunal orders restraining them from KPL affairs or discussing the expansion of the league.
"They must observe fairness and perform their duties in a manner that preserve the dignity of the sport for the benefit of players, referees, fans and all stakeholders," Nyamweya said.
The FKF-KPL differences have led to the suspension of the league indefinately as the two warrying factions iron out their differences.
