[Photo|Nyandarua County Assembly]Nyakio Ward MCA Zachary Mwangi Njeru is the new Deputy Speaker of Nyandarua County Assembly.Njeru clinched the seat unopposed after his main challenger, the immediate former Deputy Speaker Edinald Wambugu King’ori withdrew his candidature before the election exercise for the position.He will be serving as the Speaker and chairman of the House Business Committee in absence of the substantive Assembly Speaker Wahome Ndegwa.The Speaker with Murungaru and Gatimu Ward MCAs Kariuki Muchiri and Kieru Wambui respectively were also sworn in as Members of the County Assembly Service Board, on September 12, during the second sitting of the Assembly.During the same sitting, the Assembly Speaker unveiled the new leadership of the Assembly as follows:1. Hussein Kassana Ndung’u - Chief Whip.2. Lucy Wangari Methu - Deputy Chief whip.3. Peter Gathungu Kamau - Leader of the Majority Party.4. Kenneth Mukira Mahianyu - Deputy Leader of the Majority Party.5. John Kieru Wambui - County Assembly Service Board Member.6. Kariuki Muchiri - County Assembly Service Board Member.This second Assembly has no minority party. The Speaker however noted that the house had three independent members and assured the House that in line with the principles of equity and fairness the interests of the independents would be observed and protected.The list of membership of the House Business Committee was also unveiled as follows:1. James Wahome Ndegwa - Speaker/chairperson2. Zachary Mwangi Njeru - Deputy Speaker/Vice Chairperson3. Peter Gathungu Kamau - Leader of the Majority Party/Member.4. Hussein Kassana Ndung’u - Chief Whip/Member5. Kenneth Mukira Mahianyu - Deputy Leader of the Majority Party/Member6. Esther Wanjiku Muhoho - Member7. Jane Nyambura Waweru - Member8.
