A section of leaders from Nyandarua County has challenged residents and the local leadership to shun empty politics and prove their worth by delivering services to the people.

The leaders noted that some politicians were still in the campaign mood at a time when the country was shifting to service delivery.

Led by Governor Francis Kimemia, Senator Mwangi Githiomi and Ol-Kalou Member of Parliament Njuguna Kiaraho, the leaders observed that this time, residents should be cautious of person still spreading hatred and using social media to champion their shellfish interests while tarnishing names of other leaders through pseudo accounts.

Kimemia said such politicking would render the county to lag behind in terms of development and called on the elected leaders to remain united for a common good.

Kimemia called on leaders to stop bickering on petty issues which do not add value to the transformative agenda of Jubilee Government.

He said leaders should work together while encouraging Kenyans to unite and live peacefully instead of championing their narrow selfish agenda.

The governor said that instead of engaging in unnecessary wrangles as being experienced in other regions, leaders need to focus on ways and means of establishing cottage industries, water projects road infrastructure that sees more young people getting engaged in meaningful employment.

On his part, Senator Mwangi Githiomi noted that elected leaders need to be united in order to be able to serve the people of Nyandarua.

However, he observed that the wrangles were occasioned by individuals who want to make money through flimsy means.

He added that corruption was rife in most public offices in the country and called for concerted efforts by all Kenyans to eradicate the vice.

He said that soon he would release names of individuals engaging in corrupts deals in Nyandarua County saying he would not be cowed by anyone.

Ol-Kalou MP Njuguna Kiaraho echoed the sentiments saying it was unfortunate that despite the country having moved from the electioneering period last year, some people were still politicking instead of delivering their pre-election pledges.

He urged residents to shun such leaders and instead should focus their attention on critical issues affecting them.
